Patients not seen on-time in regional EDs
Regional Queenslanders pay a high price for Labor’s Health Crisis

New Queensland Health data has revealed 159,964 Queenslanders weren’t seen on time in Emergency Departments between April and June this year, exposing the depth of Labor’s escalating Health Crisis.

The shocking figures also reveal 20% of patients waiting longer than recommended at Cairns Hospital, equating to 4,382 Queenslanders.

It comes as the Health Minister refuses to release the latest data for Elective surgery and Specialist wait-lists to be scrutinised in Budget Estimates.

Shadow Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Ros Bates said Queenslanders deserved a world-class health system no matter where they lived.

“Queenslanders just want to be able to get the help they need, when they need it, not be left waiting for hours on end,” Ms Bates said.

“This is the result of a decade of failure to resource and run our health system.

“Our hardworking doctors and nurses are doing the very best with what the government has delivered them, but the reality is they’re overworked, under-resourced and disempowered to make the decisions they need to.

“The longer Labor’s Health Crisis continues, the more Queenslanders pay for Labor’s failures.

“Only the LNP has the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future, including easier access to health services.

“If elected in October, the LNP will deliver better resources, better triaging and put doctors and nurses back in charge to improve patient care, and start healing the Health Crisis.”
