The LNP has been overwhelmed by the horror stories of health victims at its Queensland Health Crisis Town Hall in Hervey Bay today.
At Hervey Bay hospital, ambulance ramping rates have surged, surgery waitlists are blowing out and bed shortages are worsening.
At the sold-out event, Leader of the Opposition David Crisafulli said the Queensland Health Crisis was having a huge impact on the people of Hervey Bay.
“Our Health Crisis Town Halls are uncovering the true state of the Queensland Health Crisis with patients sharing their stories,” Mr Crisafulli said.
“The State Government is losing control of the health system.”
Mr Crisafulli said delivering proper healthcare for the people of Hervey Bay was a priority for the LNP and the Health Crisis Town Halls were an important step on the journey.
“Speaking up can make a difference and we’ve given the people of Hervey Bay that chance,” he said.
“We’re getting results across the state with many Queenslanders finally able to have surgery after years of frustrating delays, simply by telling their stories.”
Mr Crisafulli said the LNP has solutions on the table for the State Government to adopt including, real-time data monitoring, better resources for triaging and more funding for the frontline.
“All Queenslanders deserve a world-class health system no matter where they live,” he said.
“I won’t stop fighting for the honest Queenslanders who’ve been silenced or feel they have nowhere to turn.”
Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said Hervey Bay Hospital was riddled with issues and the State Government was failing to act.
“As a nurse and former hospital administrator, I know how stressful it can be for our dedicated frontline staff who are overworked and under-resourced,” Ms Bates said.
“This State Government has had seven years to fix the Queensland Health Crisis but it’s only getting worse.
“Whistleblowers who’ve worked in the health system for decades are now coming forward.
“It’s through these stories that we can help patients, nurses, paramedics, doctors and surgeons.”
The LNP has hosted Health Town Halls in Cairns, Rockhampton, the Sunshine Coast, Caboolture, Redcliffe, Moreton Bay, Brisbane and the Gold Coast this year.
