LNP Member for Mudgeeraba Ros Bates MP has blasted Labor as key community projects have been again denied Government funding.

Ms Bates said she’d been fighting for better roads, a new state high school west of the M1 and additional CCTV cameras to combat hooning – for the past seven years.

“The Palaszczuk government has left Mudgeeraba behind.

“I’ve been pleading with the Government to fund the raising of the Austinville causeway before someone is killed when the road floods.

“But no – our community is being ignored again.

“I’ve also pleaded for money to fund CCTV cameras – to help fight the scourge of hooning on our community streets.

“But no – nothing to help the law-abiding citizens of Lower Beechmont and Numinbah valley whose lives are being ruined night after night by illegal hoons.”

Ms Bates said again it was a case of smoke and mirrors.

“There’s no plan for a new state high school west of the M1.  The houses are going up, the families are moving in and there’s no plan for a high school to take these students.

“But we need so much more.  We’ve been neglected again. And it’s just not good enough.

“They’ve had seven years and three terms in Government to do something for our community – and we’ve been let down again.

“I want our community to know that I’ll keep fighting until we get the funds that we deserve.

“All we’ve had is a list of recycled projects, that have already been announced.”
