The Palaszczuk Labor Government is failing to take control of surgery wait lists which continue to spiral out of control.
New data from Queensland Health has revealed a 21.4% blowout in Mackay since Annastacia Palaszczuk became Premier.
LNP Shadow Minister for Health Ros Bates said as of September there were nearly 1000 Mackay residents waiting for surgery.
“The latest statistics are appalling,” Ms Bates said.
“They show no sign of improving because Labor doesn’t have a plan to fix the health system.
“This is just part of a growing surgery wait list problem across Queensland.
“Under the Palaszczuk Labor Government, the surgery wait list has increased by more than 26,000 Queenslanders.
“As a registered nurse I know how frustrating and stressful it is for patients held up on a waitlist.
“These aren’t just numbers on a spreadsheet, they’re your kids, parents, grandparents or friends.
“You can’t trust Labor to cut waiting lists.
“Only the LNP has a plan to fix Labor’s health crisis by cutting wait times, reduce ramping, fund more beds, properly resource our doctors and nurses and re-open regional maternity wards.
“Annastacia Palaszczuk should have sacked her incompetent Health Minister a long time ago.”
LNP Candidate for Whitsunday Amanda Camm said all Queenslanders deserve a world class health system no matter where they live.
“Only the LNP has a plan to slash waiting lists and ensure patients are treated on time,” Ms Camm said.
“A vote for the LNP at next year’s election, is a vote for a better patient care, reduced waiting lists and more local health services.”
