The LNP has committed $100,000 to assist community groups in cleaning up Mudgeeraba Creek from the M1 to Somerset Drive if elected next month.
LNP candidate for Mudgeeraba, Ms. Ros Bates MP, stated that the $100,000 would help deliver the programs and services necessary to clean up this beloved waterway in Mudgeeraba.
“The LNP will preserve our environment with more conservation and support for injured wildlife, in the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future,” Ms. Bates said.
“This $100,000 will enhance the health of our creek and the health of overall environment,” she added.
“Labor has failed; I have been fighting for funding for this from the Labor Government for nine long years.
“The poor state of Mudgeeraba Creek has been a significant issue for locals. After I was elected, I continually raised these concerns with the Labor Government, who simply just kept ignoring the responsibility for our local environment,” said Ms Bates.
Mudgeeraba resident Sophie McKay welcomed the announcement and said she was pleased to see Ms. Bates fighting to get the creek cleaned.
“The creek runs near our house, but we’ve never been able to use it because no one wants to clean out the sludge and make it safe,” McKay said.
“It’s great to see Ros fighting for the funding we need to see the creek restored and have another environmental attraction saved in the local area.”
Ms. Bates said Queenslanders could vote for Clean Up Mudgeeraba Creek and a government which will work for them, by voting LNP at this election.
“Queenslanders must show Labor the door in 2024, to ensure the right focus on delivering the programs, services and communities for our state,” Ms. Bates said.
“Only the LNP stands ready to deliver a fresh start for Queensland.”
