The LNP at the 2017 election committed $50,000 to restoring Mudgeeraba Creek in the Gold Coast hinterland for the benefit of local residents if elected.
Member for Mudgeeraba Ros Bates said the local area would benefit from an enhanced environment for the community to enjoy and will continue to fight for funding as Labor has completely ignored the issue.
“The poor state of Mudgeeraba Creek has been a huge issue for locals and after I was elected, I kept raising it with the former Labor Government, who just kept passing the buck on our local environment,” said Ms Bates.
Mudgeeraba resident Lucy Moss said she was pleased to join the fight.
“The creek runs right past our house, but we’ve never been able to use it because no one wants to clean out the sludge and make it safe.”
“It would be great to see finally get the funding we need to see the creek restored and have another environmental attraction saved in the local area.”
