MEDIA STATEMENT: Mudgeeraba celebrates investments in community Groups
The Crisafulli LNP Government has announced the Mudgeeraba Electorate’s share of more than $16 million in grants as part of a record-setting round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF).
Across Queensland, nearly 630 community groups have been awarded grants of up to $35,000, to support a wide range of projects and initiatives.
The latest round delivers a welcome boost to the Mudgeeraba Electorate, with funding helping to upgrade local facilities, support grassroots sporting clubs and provide essential services.
More than 2000 applications were received across the State, the largest number in the program’s 31-year history.
Recipients across the Mudgeeraba Electorate will share in $137,989.00 in funding, including:
- Giddy Up Gold Coast, a grassroots organisation supporting horse riding and mental health, will receive $35,000 to purchase a new tractor and upgrade their facilities. This funding will help enhance their programs, which provide vital therapeutic and recreational opportunities to the local community.
- Mudgeeraba Show Society Inc. will receive $32,989.00 to replace their aging grandstand, enhancing comfort and safety for visitors at future community events.
- Mudgeeraba Soccer Club, will receive $35,000.00 to upgrade their solar energy system, helping to reduce operational costs and support a more sustainable future for the club.
- PTSD Resurrected Inc. will receive $35,000.00 to purchase a new vehicle, enabling the organisation to expand its outreach and support services for veterans and first responders living with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Local MP Hon. Ros Bates said the grants would help community organisations at a time when budgets have been stretched by cost-of-living increases.
“I am proud to see these funds supporting the deserving community groups that work so hard to make a difference.” She said.
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for Integrity Deb Frecklington said the record-breaking interest in the latest round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund demonstrated its importance to local communities.
“These grants are a huge benefit across Queensland’s towns, rural centres and cities, and they can be a lifeline for organisations that are doing it tough,” the Attorney-General said.
“You only need to look at the list of recipients in Round 122 to see the difference these grants make to the people and places that make our State strong.
A new round of the GCBF will open shortly.
Following the impacts of recent natural disasters, the upcoming GCBF Super Round (Round 124) has been rescheduled to ensure impacted organisations have the time and capacity to apply for funding.
Round 124 of the GCBF, offering grants of up to $100,000, will open 9 June and close 18 July 2025.
