A local sports club is set to receive a Christmas bonus as the Mudgeeraba Sports Club has scored in the third round of the Queensland Government’s Get Playing grants program.
Get Playing forms part of the Queensland Government’s $68 million Get in the Game initiative, and provides sport and recreation clubs with better facilities.
Member for Mudgeeraba Ros Bates said Mudgeeraba Sports Club had shared in more than $11.4 million worth of funding, approved to almost 140 clubs statewide under the latest round.
“In this round, the Mudgeeraba Sports Club will receive $100,000 in Get Playing funding to construct change rooms, a training room and referee facility,” Ms Bates said.
“The Mudgeeraba Sports Club makes a fantastic contribution to our local community as it keeps our kids active and healthy, so it’s important that their infrastructure and facilities are modern and safe.
“Get in the Game is focused on promoting greater participation at the grassroots community level and supporting local clubs and this funding will help achieve that in the Mudgeeraba electorate.”
Mudgeeraba Sports Club president John White said the Get Playing grant would go a long way in setting local kids up for active and healthy lifestyles.
“This $100,000 grant will help us build great new facilities so that we can continue to support local kids into the future,” Mr White said.
“One of the most important things we can do for the young people of our community is help them get out and get active, and with this Christmas funding boost, we can continue to do exactly that.”
