The LNP has committed to installing additional CCTV to cameras to prevent hooning in Numinbah Valley if elected next month.

An LNP Government will install CCTV cameras at the intersection of Pine Creek Road and Nerang-Murwillumbah Road in Numinbah Valley to deter hooning in the Hinterland.

LNP candidate for Mudgeeraba, Ms. Ros Bates MP said the $300,000 investment is part of the LNP’s Making Our Community Safer Plan.

“The LNP will restore safety where you live with the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future,” Ms. Bates said.

“For too long, communities in the Numinbah Valley have been terrorised by illegal road activities that have been causing distress to the community,” said Ms Bates.

“A $300,000 investment in both covert and fixed CCTV cameras will serve as a deterrent to hoons and provide the necessary evidence to our hardworking police to prosecute these criminals.”

“The plan includes realigning the intersection, installing concrete barriers and implementing CCTV infrastructure to enhance security.

“Hoons are known to show up in masses, endangering other drivers and even starting fires just 700m from children camping at the Numinbah Environmental Education Centre. It’s time to stop the hoons.

“Queenslanders have been held hostage by Labor’s Crime Crisis, but the LNP is committed to making our community safer with Adult Crime, Adult Time, gold standard early intervention and effective rehabilitation.

“Labor’s failures have seen crime skyrocket, with almost 300,000 Queenslanders victim to violations like car theft, break-ins and assaults, just last year.

Springbrook resident Ray Cavanough welcomed the announcement and said the renewed effort to stop hooning was needed for the Hinterland.

“Hoons are always out here running amok out here, and it’s great to see money will be spent to catch hoons and get drivers to slow down outside Numinbah Valley State School,” said Mr. Cavanough.

Ms. Bates said Queenslanders could vote for cracking down on hooning and a government which worked for them, by voting LNP at this election.

“Queenslanders must show Labor the door in 2024, to restore safety where they live,” Ms. Bates said.

“Only the LNP stands ready to deliver a fresh start for Queensland.”
