MACKAY hospital victims are being left in the dark as the critical review into the obstetrics and gynaecology departments is delayed yet again.
10 months after the review was first launched, multiple women who claim to have suffered at the hands of dodgy practices, are no closer to getting the answers they deserve.
Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said the report was too important to be delayed any longer.
“Every time there’s a delay, every time it’s pushed into the too hard basket, that’s one less woman who gets the justice she deserves,” she said.
“This is unacceptable on the Palaszczuk Government’s watch.
“These women’s lives have been torn apart and they deserve the truth.”
It is the second time the review has been delayed after the Palaszczuk Government promised to deliver the report by the end of June.
The Mackay Hospital and Health Service doesn’t even have a timeline for when the report will be delivered to Queenslanders.
Member for Whitsunday Amanda Camm said it simply wasn’t good enough.
“The horror these mothers went through at the Mackay Hospital should never happen to anyone,” she said.
“Every woman who walks into the Mackay Hospital needs to have confidence that the problems which have plagued the maternity ward have been addressed.
“Every setback, every hold up, every extension, erodes this trust.
“This is too important to get wrong.
“We know mothers were harmed, and they deserve some answers.
“The government must fix the problems and give these women the confidence they so desperately need.”
