MEDIA STATEMENT: Ros Bates Delivers safety upgrades at Springbrook Mountain
- Ros Bates secures delivery of a key election commitment to upgrade safety and tourism signage at Springbrook Mountain.
- Long-standing community concerns ignored under Labor are now being addressed.
- Crisafulli LNP Government delivering safer roads and clearer access to one of the Gold Coast’s most popular destinations.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering on its election commitment to upgrade safety and tourism signage at Springbrook Mountain, after continuous advocacy from Member for Mudgeeraba Ros Bates and her local community.
For years, locals raised concerns about confusing directions and safety risks on the mountain, especially near Wunburra Lookout, but those concerns were left unresolved by the former Labor Government.
Ros Bates made fixing Springbrook a priority and has worked to make sure the upgrades are now being delivered.
New signage along Springbrook Road will guide motorists safely toward Springbrook National Park, while extra signage on Carricks Road will improve visibility in areas with reduced sight lines.
A second stage of upgrades is planned for the Springbrook Plateau.
Member for Mudgeeraba Ros Bates said this was a clear example of delivering what the community had been asking for.
“I have heard directly from locals for years about how confusing and, at times, unsafe it can be navigating the mountain,” Ms Bates said.
“This has been a long time coming, and I made sure it was delivered.”
“Springbrook is one of the most special parts of our region, and it deserve to be safe and easy to access for locals and visitors alike.”
